The 1857 First War of Independence was a widespread Indian uprising against the rule of the British East India Company, aiming for liberation and autonomy from colonial oppression. " Maza Pravas" is a significant Marathi travelogue by Vishnubhat Godse, chronicling his extensive travels across central and northern India during 1857-1858.
